Margie Perez is a vivacious singer and songwriter specializing in a versatile blend of blues, pop, and Latin music with a funky New Orleans touch. Dubbed as one of the hardest working musicians in New Orleans by Offbeat Magazine, Margie leads her own band, showcasing her original music. Her 2017 release "Love Is All" was honored as one of Offbeat's 50 Favorite CDs and received three "Best of the Beat" award nominations. Margie has been featured on WWNO's "Music Inside Out" with Gwen Thompkins and was the recipient of the Positive Vibrations Foundation's Heartbeat Musicians Award. Notably, she appeared singing alongside Harry Connick Jr on his 2020 CBS special "United We Sing."
In addition to her solo work, Margie co-leads the hot Latin Big Band Muevelo and leads the smaller Latin ensemble Margie Perez and Her Grupo Latino. She also lends her captivating vocals to Afro-Cuban sacred music Moyuba, Kumasi Afrobeat Orchestra, N.O.B.A.B.E. (the powerhouse collective of female musicians), and The M&M's, a supergroup featuring members of Galactic, Papa Mali, and John Medeski. Margie Perez has collaborated with numerous talented musicians in New Orleans, including Alan Toussaint and the Meters guitar legend, Leo Nocentelli.
